La Partie Events I: romantic wedding bouquets by floral designer Megan Fickling (La Partie Events)

Browsing through Janie Medley´s blog, The Bride’s Cafe, which you all know I find really fascinating, I came across the superb creations of floral designer Megan Fickling (La Partie Events). I immediately fell in love with her work.  She is talented, passionate, creative and her floral designs are just stricking. I thought our readers ought to see her work so I contacted Megan.  She is a lovely person and she was willing to feature in our blog, which is an honour to us.  Meg told me I could choose the photos I wanted from her blog (which I also recommend, as it is fantastic).  I was overwhelmed by all the beautiful designs I saw so in the end I decided to feature her lovely work in two parts : wedding bouquets and centerpieces floral arrangements. Thanks Meg for being so helpful and kind and thanks to all the wonderful professionals you collaborate with!

An Autumn wedding cake

The Autumn Fall is nearly here.  I love this time of the year with all its´lovely warm colours and the beauty of its landscapes. I think it is a very romantic time of the year to get married, so if you are thinking of doing so, think about giving your weeding day an autumn flair.

If you are thinking of having a wedding cake on the day, why not surprise your guests with an Autumn wedding cake.  Here are some ideas that might help you achieve the desired effect.

Autumn colours are lovely and they blend nicely together, so don´t hesitate to use them in your wedding cake.  If your cake has got flowers on it, use colours such as orange, yellow, brown or even ochre. The flowers can be part of the cake´s design or you might even choose to have natural flowers as part of the decoration.  I am very fond of having natural elements, such as fresh flowers, because I believe it gives the whole thing a very romantic touch.

I think the photos with whole fresh apples or other Autumn items such as leaves, pine cones, berries… are very inspiring.  And the idea of displaying the cake on a wooden trunk is just great ! Just have a look at how lovely those little birds perched on the cake look.

The decoration of the table where you are going to display the cake is also important. Not only does the cake have to have an Autumn feeling about it but you can also display flowers and jars with tomatoes, berries etc around it, for an Autumn scenario.  In one of the photos I have seen gazing through different wedding blogs, my attention was drawn to a cake with orange flowers displayed on old leather books. They matched perfectly and  you felt it was really cosy !

Another cute idea is having an old wooden frame with a picture of a little forest animal, on the top of the wedding cake instead of the classic bride and groom little figures.

I have been spending a few days up in the North of Spain, in Asturias. The scenery there is awesome, really beautiful, but what called my attention most were the lovely gardens, with all sorts of pretty flowers scattered around. This gave me the idea of writing a post combining the work of one of my favourite floral designers, Janie MedleyJMFlora Designs- and the always amazing work of Spanish wedding dresses designers YolanCris.

Janie Medley´s floral arrangements are full of life, vibrant and creative.  Her bouquets are simple and elegant. Janie is a great professional, a lovely person to work with and she absolutely adores her work.  She has a great blog, The Bride´s Cafe, full of inspiring and beautiful ideas.

Sisters and designers YolanCris dresses are something whimsical.  As I have chosen flowers as the inspiration for this post, I have also chosen dresses from their Robes de Style collection, which have floral touches in them. I am sure you will love their designs as there is something magical about them !

I hope you enjoy the images I have chosen for today´s post. The floral arrangements are Janie Medley´s exclusive designs and you can see them in her blog, The Bride´s Cafe, or in her website. The wedding dresses are all YolanCris designs and can be found on their website.

Three names, one passion: millinery hats

There was no need for a royal wedding to value the incredible work of these three designers, already worldknown and prestigious, the Irish Philip Treacy, British Stephen Jones and Spanish Candela Cort.

The way they envisage their work and creations is something absolutely fabulous because of all the beauty and magic in each design.  With their talent and the aid of their hands they transform every single feather, piece of material …. into an incredible piece of art. Beautiful in its design and choice of colours.  In a previous post, talking about Spanish hat designers, we mentioned how important it is to feel happy and identified with the hat you wear.  You must feel the most beautiful woman in the world when you wear it, and I am sure you are bound to feel identified and inspired by one or more of the designs we are going to show here.

They say an image is sometimes worth more than a thousand words so just go ahead and browse through their webpages and have a look at their collections.  I also recommend you to read their biographies and interviews as they are a real insight into their interesting lives and rich, particular views on design and fashion.

Boutonnieres

It is usually the bride that inspires our posts but today we have thought of you, guys, as you are also a star in the show.

We are going to talk about boutonnieres as these give a glamorous finishing touch to the grooms outfit. Traditionally the groom wore a small flower that matched the brides colour bouquet and flowers. Nowadays you can find very original boutonnieres that match the wedding´s theme or colours, and they don´t need to be flowers but can be made out of different materials. You can also adapt as a boutonnier something you are very fond of and that has a special meaning to you.
Here are some boutonnieres we have liked. Hope they will inspire you !
